The importance of colour in fashion today is way beyond what it used to be. Colour hues and effects have become so important such that in most parts of the world a particular colour comes into trend for a period of time or for a season. Everyone into any events during such periods of time finds out they tend to pick colours gravitating towards what’s in vogue, most times not minding if it suits the wearer or not.
When choosing colours for events or for a particular set of people, a lot of factors comes to play. For instance most people believe that when attending a funeral, mostly of a young person to show deep mourning one should wear black. But then according to colour psychologists, the true psychological meaning of the colour black is “powerful” “sophisticated” and “Edgy” .
The colour gray, which is a blend between the colour black and white is more appropriate, uncommon and in line with the situation. The colour gray psychologically projects “gloom” “neutral” and formal. Gray would also naturally look good on both dark and fair people as compared to black which most dark people are wary of wearing.
Green projects “nature”, ” prosperity” and lighter shades of green looks better on dark people while darker shades of green look better on fair people.
Yellow is a “happy” colour it looks better on dark people, blue projects “serenity”, ‘trust” and “safety” it looks better on fair people, especially the darker shades of blue.
I will explore other colours and matching colours in my next article, remember that regardless of what’s in trend the only things you should be wearing is what makes you look good, feel good and classy!
